Dog Crates

Why do dogs need dog crates or their own dog house?

A dog needs a crate not for punishment but for his den, his home, a place for him to rest safely.

When you buy your new puppy you should buy a large crate (that will he will fit into when he’s full grown)

Put a bed in the back of the crate and a pee pad in front right next to the door.  This way if the puppy has to pee in the middle of the night he will find his way to the puppy pee pads.

During the day put a dog fence in a washable floor area in your house.  Usually a tile lined floor like the kitchen.

Put his bed in one corner and the puppy housebreaking pad in another.  % of dogs will not soil the place where they sleep.  If they do, it’s not natural and perhaps you aren’t allowing the puppy to have enough room.

Remember he is a baby.  Just learning your routine.  Teach him now and he’ll remember it forever.

Never hit your dog.  Just a look or a word said in that really pissed off voice will get across to your dog.

When I find a accident on my floor I say “OK, who did it this time”? and all the dogs go running.  Which makes me think.  Hmmmm, is there more than one guilty dog in this house?
