The Breed Allergy List

Today I met an English Bulldog and was enchanted with this endearing dog bred to guard bulls.

I was at my local market and looked into a car and saw an English Bulldog sitting in the back seat with the most expressive eyes I ever saw.  I thought t English-bulldogo myself, this is a really small Bulldog and wondered if it was a mix.

I started talking to the little dog through the open window and he started to wag his butt and then his entire body.  He stood on the back seat and came up to the window and licked my finger.

Then I started petting this little guy and since it was a little hot, waited for the owners to come out.  After 5 minutes I could feel he was getting pretty warm but the sun was about to go down and the windows were open so I wasn't too worried about him.  But in my opinion a dog and especially a puppy should never be left in a car, ever!  One fact about this breed of Bulldog is that they can get overheated very quickly.  So if it’s a hot day don’t take him for a walk midday.  Wait for a cool evening.

I fell in love with this little dog who turned out to be a puppy.  He took one of my fingers in his mouth, all the time keeping incredible eye contact, and I noticed that his teeth had just started to break through his gums.  What a wonderful dog.  I now know why people love English Bulldogs.  They are  loving and  sweet and calm.

The English Bulldog breed has many fans.  I’m their newest!  English Bulldogs have great personalities, are friendly, and patient with children. However, English Bulldogs are prone to many health problems and one of them is Allergies.

English Bulldogs Allergies

  • Grain
  • Skin
  • Allergies to flea bites
  • Pollen
  • Pink Feet
  • Fungal Infections

Be sure to take your English Bulldog to a capable vet, one who’s specialty is canines not birds or cats!

One of the allergies the English Bulldog will be susceptible to are skin allergies.  My vet has told me to start giving a English Bulldog a supplement of essential fatty acids.
